PLACES TO VISIT FULL OF HISTORY, ART AND CULTURE

Isola Capo Rizzuto is one of the most historically and artistically important areas of Calabria, in fact it is set in an area rich in the remains of towers, relics and remains of the sixteenth-century Feudal Castle. From the historical point of view, all the buildings were erected to ensure internal security and to counteract the frequent invasions. To visit is the hamlet of Le Castella, characterized by a perfectly preserved sixteenth-century fortification, stretching over a small peninsula overlooking the sea.

To admire important testimonies of the whole area, a visit to the city of Crotone is a must, full of arcades and buildings built in the second half of the 19th century , a magnificent cathedral dating back to the 9th century and no less the Castle. The Sanctuary of Hera Lacinia is known all over the world in which today only a column of the temple dating back to 470 BC remains, representing the most important sanctuary in all of Magna Graecia.

The coast of the territory is part of the protected marine area of Capo Rizzuto established in 1991. Depending on the characteristic, sandy or rocky, the seabed hosts molluscs, cnidarians and porifers. In addition, there are various fish presences including rabbits, groupers, mullets, damsels and the colorful parrot fish. The area is a popular destination for every diver , but also for various explorers who every day, thanks to the body that manages the area, book a visit with transparent bottom boats, discovering all the wonders of a submerged part of Calabria .
